Today, I worked on finding more pins so that each board had 15+ pins. I also watched the movie to screen shot some images to add to my boards. I also created a board that held all of the tweets Daisy would write.

Why I Did It

I wanted each board to have 15+ pins because they needed to encompass Daisy and things that she would pin. Each category reflects her personality and how she would plan parties, design her house, think about Gatsby, etc. I watched the movie because there were some images I was unable to find on my own and they would provide the perfect example of what each board needed to complete it. I created the Tweets board because I thought it would be the best way to keep everything together so that it would be easy since it’s all in one place.

Today, I worked on pinning more things to my boards so they had some good depth. I also worked on searching through the pins to find specific literary references. Since last class, I have created 10 tweets that link to Daisy’s Pinterest page.

Why I Did It

I searched for more pins because my boards need to have at least 20 pins per board in order for them to hold relevance (to my standard). If Daisy is going to pin about something, there has to be a reason people would follow her. I also made the tweets because it gives a second level of Daisy and allows her audience to connect with her in another medium.

Revision Plan http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/22/revision-plan-12/ Wed, 22 Apr 2015 15:38:18 +0000 http://agrondine.wordpress.com/?p=222 ]]> In our group revision session, I asked Krista and Katharina for some help on the method to cite my sources. Since I’ll be tweeting things and adding quotes from the book/movie, I wanted to be sure to give credit where needed. However, Katharina suggested I make an excel sheet and add it as an attachment to my project since citing in the tweets would interfere with the appearance and purpose of the the project.

They really liked the idea and direction I was taking my project and I just need to continue adding pins and creating the tweets.

The link to my rough cut is here.

Sources & Rough Cuts http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/20/sources-rough-cuts/ Mon, 20 Apr 2015 15:53:04 +0000 http://agrondine.wordpress.com/?p=220 ]]> What I Did

To cite my sources, I will use the links in the Pins and cite my tweets via quotes or link them to pins. Since my project focuses on social media, I can use the links to cite my sources and make my project multimodal. I’m currently looking at the new site, Popcorn Time to watch The Great Gatsby movie for my project and pull any material or quotes I might need. I went over the checklist for the basic materials I need for my rough cut.

Why I Did It

I decided on this method because it’s the easiest way to do so without appearing awkward or obvious. Linking sources will make it cleaner and it will allow viewers to go directly to the source. Popcorn Time makes you download the app in order to use it so I’m currently debating whether or not I want to download it to my computer. I can watch the older version on Netflix, but I wanted to use the newer version for my project. My project currently meets the requirements for a rough cut, minus the fake tweets, which will be completed by Wednesday’s class.

MockUp http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/15/mockup/ Wed, 15 Apr 2015 15:34:57 +0000 http://agrondine.wordpress.com/?p=217 ]]> What I Did

I’ve already set up my Pinterest with boards and started putting pins in their respective areas. Below, you can see what boards I have and how I have divvied up Daisy’s life into these categories. What you don’t see are the tweets that will coincide with some of her pins. That is the next step in my project.

Why I Did It

I took a screenshot of my Pinterest homepage because that’s where all of Daisy’s boards lie and are essentially the mockup of the project anyways.

Progress on P4 http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/13/progress-on-p4/ Mon, 13 Apr 2015 15:45:06 +0000 http://agrondine.wordpress.com/?p=213 ]]> What I Did

Today I worked on my assets and creating a timeline for my project (seen below). I also created more boards on Daisy’s Pinterest page and looked at generating fake Tweets for Daisy’s account. I’m considering creating a Storify account so I can keep all of my work in one space so I can present it easily.

Timeline:

 • Collect all quotes/research needed–4/14
 • Storyboard or mockup–4/15
 • Creating an asset list–4/18
 • Preparing a rough cut or draft–4/20
 • Revising and editing your final project–4/25 (will occur after peer revisions)
 • Delivering your project–4/29 TBD

Why I Did It

I created a timeline to help keep myself accountable and so that I had an idea of when things needed to get done so I wouldn’t be scrambling the night before the project was due. I created more boards on Pinterest and started pinning because I need to find material that Daisy would pin. I started looking into the fake Twitter generator because I’ll be tweeting some of Daisy’s pins as well as some quotes/movie clips from the movie and novel.

Daisy Buchanan on Pinterest http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/08/daisy-buchanan-on-pinterest/ Wed, 08 Apr 2015 15:37:45 +0000 http://agrondine.wordpress.com/?p=211 ]]> I’ve decided to make a Pinterest board in the eyes of Daisy Buchanan. Right now, I’ve thought the following boards would be applicable to her life: Man of my Dreams; Parties; Design; Fashion; Outings; Old Money; Across the Pond (Green Light); New York, New York, etc. I want to add a Twitter aspect to the Pinterest because I want Daisy to come across similar to the Real Housewives of New York and highlight how she interacts with the world.

The sources I will use (seen below) will help give me multiple perspectives about Daisy. The novel is how Fitzgerald created her (I also heavily annotated it in high school), the character analysis is more modern and has been heavily studied so it gives me a good idea of what is important to Daisy and how to look for things she might pin or tweet. Finally, I chose the modern version of the Gatsby movie because I can access it on Netflix and get some ideas from there.

Each source is credible because they are either the actual novel, a well-known website that scholars use, and a movie interpretation of the novel that was produced and filmed in Hollywood.

Sources: The Great Gatsby novel, a character analysis, and The Great Gatsby movie.

Project 4 Online Work http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/03/project-4-online-work/ Sat, 04 Apr 2015 00:08:24 +0000 http://agrondine.wordpress.com/?p=209 ]]> What Makes a Good Remix

A good remix focuses on the context and how in-depth you go to remix the story. Some of my favorites incorporated history and put a spin on the story while also including important facts. I think they should include well-thought out plans and good detail including images/videos, text, and any supporting details that might be needed. However, not all of them have to be long as long as they get to the point and include all relevant information.

What Makes a Good Digital Story

I really liked quite a few of the sample projects but I think my favorite was the Little Red Riding Hood Prezi. It incorporated a similar storyline to Pretty Little Liars. I really enjoyed the pictures that were incorporated into the storyline and how it was pieced together like they were investigating the mystery. The sticky notes made it easy to follow the story and the incorporation of the social media documenting her journey was genius.

Stories I am Considering

I’m not really sure what story I’d want to do but the examples shown gave me a lot of ideas that I could potentially do. I didn’t realize that we could try to work off of a song as well so I’m really fascinated by the incorporation of history with a relevant song. The following are my ideas:

 • Snow White & the 7 Dwarves mashed with Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space.” I thought this could be fun because there’s a line in the song that talks about writing a name in the blank space and this could be used with each dwarf and the story line with it ending with her Prince Charming coming to save her.
 • The Little Mermaid and documenting it as a mystery to discover where she went and how she lost her voice.
 • “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” and make it into a magazine documenting the story line and adding different ways she pushed the guy away
 • Expose on Scandal and how President Grant was elected to office; can be done through Prezi and similar to the Red Riding Hood board

I’m going to continue to think about the stories I could do and hopefully have a final determination on Monday.

Fetchnotes http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/03/30/fetchnotes-3/ Mon, 30 Mar 2015 15:53:03 +0000 http://agrondine.wordpress.com/?p=207 ]]> I would use Fetchnotes most because I have a terrible memory. I currently use the reminders application on my iPhone but it’s not appealing and doesn’t really make very good use out of the app. I really like the idea of using hashtags so that things are organized well and easy to find.

So Many Options! http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/03/27/so-many-options/ Sat, 28 Mar 2015 02:31:08 +0000 http://agrondine.wordpress.com/?p=205 ]]> The tool I was most interested in today was Katharina’s presentation of PearlTree. It seemed like a really cool way to connect with friends and to organize all of your interests easily. I thought it was exciting how you could include photos as well and organize them into your different interests.
