Today I finished my Pinterest boards. I narrowed it down to three boards with 5-10 pins on each of them. I still need to adjust the captions on the photos, but all the content I need is there.

Why I Did It:

I want to have enough time to prepare my presentation, which is on Wednesday. I also chose to create three boards because I did not want my content to be repetitive, and felt these three boards did a good job of covering my topic.

Day 23: In class work II http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/27/day-23-in-class-work-ii/ Mon, 27 Apr 2015 15:24:07 +0000 http://rahuber9.wordpress.com/?p=168 ]]> What I Did:

Today I officially set up a Pinterest account and created boards that I thought would be appropriate for my remix. I looked on image sharing sites, such as Flickr, for images to use.

Why I Did It:

I needed to officially decide how I was going to make these boards and what content was going in them. I also knew it would be somewhat difficult to find pictures so now was a good time to start looking.

Today I planned out what boards I chose for my project. I also began thinking about my presentation.

Why I Did It:

I wanted to think of boards that are creative and would be good to present.

Day 21: Rough Cuts, Rough Drafts, and Revision Plans http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/20/day-21-rough-cuts-rough-drafts-and-revision-plans/ Mon, 20 Apr 2015 12:00:58 +0000 http://rahuber9.wordpress.com/?p=176 ]]> What I Did:

I didn’t have to make any decisions regarding the layout for my project because Pinterest provides an unchangeable one. I began saving images to use for my project.

Why I Did It:

I focused most of my time on searching for images because so much of my time was saved by the pre-set layout provided by Pinterest. Even though it saves me time with that option, it would’ve been nice to have more creative input.

Day 21: Mock-Up http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/15/day-21-mock-up/ Wed, 15 Apr 2015 15:43:44 +0000 http://rahuber9.wordpress.com/?p=162 ]]> What I Did:

This past week I have put a lot of thought into my original idea of the story of Cinderella from the step-mothers perspective. I changed my project idea completely. Instead, I am going to do a Pinterest board from the Fairy Godmother’s perspective about prepping Cinderella for the ball. I created my mock-up before/during class today, and the idea seems a lot more solid and interesting.

Why I Did It:

I created the mock-up Pinterest board so I could lay-out my project and get a better idea of how this remix would work. I also chose the perspective of the Fairy Godmother because she’s a key figure in the story but you never really see it from her perspective. I thought it’d be interesting to see how she planned to get Cinderella to the ball.

This is my basic mock-up now. I plan to add more when I’m creating the actual project, but I believe this gives a solid overview/foundation for what my project is going to be about.

Day 20: Planning http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/13/day-20-planning/ Mon, 13 Apr 2015 15:54:32 +0000 http://rahuber9.wordpress.com/?p=160 ]]> Timeline:

4/15: Storyboard Completed

4/17: Have all photos

4/20: Have all content completed

4/22: Fix based on peer review

4/24: Final draft, get peer to check over again

4/27: presentation complete

What I Did:

This class I researched what tools I can use for my project. I looked a lot into Weebly, which I have some experience with. I think it would be good to use if I chose to create a digital scrapbook. I also looked at iMovie tutorials in case I want to make a movie instead of a digital scrapbook.

Why I Did It:

I’m still deciding if I want to do a digital scrapbook, so I am exploring options for that to see if I could make a good remix.

Day 19: Cinderella Story Remix http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/08/day-19-cinderella-story-remix/ Wed, 08 Apr 2015 15:47:30 +0000 http://rahuber9.wordpress.com/?p=157 ]]> The story I chose to remix is the classic fairy tale ‘Cinderella’. I chose ‘Cinderella’ because it is my favorite fairy tale and I have always loved it. Because the original story is not extremely long, I have chosen to cover the entire story.

The genre I have chosen to do is a digital scrapbook.

Day 18: Remix a Story http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/05/day-18-remix-a-story/ Mon, 06 Apr 2015 00:21:04 +0000 http://rahuber9.wordpress.com/?p=155 ]]> What makes a good remix:

A good remix is visually appealing and informative to the audience. A good remix uses appropriate visuals that help tell the story but the author is able to add their own unique twist to it. A good remix allows the audience to know what the author is talking about, but they are still aware it is the authors unique work.

What makes a good digital story:

I believe The Hunger Games digital story was the best one. The layout of the project is extremely professional and well thought out, while remaining true to the original story. The author emphasizes other parts of the story in unique and creative ways.

Stories I am Considering:

Cinderella: This is my favorite childhood fairy tale, and I feel like it would be really interesting to remix a classic and tell the story digitally.

The Princess and the Frog: Another childhood classic, I think it would be interesting to tell as a digital story since it was produced into an updated animation within the past few years.

Snow White: again, another fairy tale, but one that has also been explored digitally in recent movies. Would be interesting to remix through a dwarves perspective or the huntsmans perspective.

Day 17: Interesting Tool III http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/03/30/day-17-interesting-tool-iii/ Mon, 30 Mar 2015 15:48:10 +0000 http://rahuber9.wordpress.com/?p=129 ]]> The tool I was most interested in today was vialogue. I thought it was interesting because I liked how people could respond to comments on videos and that you click on the comments and see directly what part of the video they were referring to. I don’t know if I would necessarily create my own video but I would definitely use it for classes and for further research.
