I rented out my equipment from the innovation space. I researched more about After Effects. I am still really bad at it. One of my actors quit at the last minute, so I recruited someone else. I filmed all the scenes on Sunday. I am not the best cameraman and the actors didn’t have the lines memorized. My film will probably be a little jumpy because of this. I started going over the film and finding free background music and sound effects.

Why I Did It

I needed equipment to film my project. I need some kind of effect for the transformation scene. I am not a direct or filmmaker, so the film will be very amateurish. I hope that the background music will cover any stray sounds.

I looked at After Effects tutorials and looked at iMovie’s effects.

Why I Did It

I would like to have some animation in my film. I will research a little more and try to make that possible.

What I Should Be Aware Of
I should maybe use iMovie instead of Premiere.
I should be flexible in case I need to change locations during filming.
I should practice with After Effects and find a tutorial for exactly what I need.
I should be flexible with my shots.
I need to include audio to all scenes to drown out background noise.
I may need to rerecord my actors if the audio unclear.

I viewed Lynda.com tutorial videos for After Effects. I downloaded a youtube.com video to practice with After Effects. I started a shot-by-shot outline of my video.

Why I Did It

I have never used After Effects before. Since I will not have my filming done until later, I will practice editing and using After Effects. I will try to finish the shot-by-shot outline. I am not sure if I can think of all the angles and shots I want, so I may deal with that while I am shooting.

What I Did
I wrote the script but will continue to rewrite it until I am satisfied. I have received all the props. I contacted the actors again and now have two tentative days we may film. Since filming is a ways off, I will use this time to familiarize myself with Adobe Premiere and After Effects. I will also familiarize myself with the makeup and fake blood needed for filming.

Why I Did
I need to finish the script so I have time to edit it. I wish that I could film sooner, but my friends who are willing to do it have busy and conflicting schedules. I may map out shots on paper and borrow a video camera before actual shooting to get a feel for lighting, location, and set up. I will also practice with the software I am using because I have never used them before, and I also need some information for my presentation because the presentation will probably happen before I even start filming.

I created a mockup of all the scenes for my film and a list of all the props and locations I need. I bought my props on Amazon and contacted the actors. I started my script and plan on finishing it this week.

Why I Did It

I created the mockup to help get all my ideas together and help me plan locations and props. I bought props to make my film more cinematic and enjoyable. I contacted the actors to start getting them to think about when they are free. I started my script, so I will have plenty of time to make changes before filming.

• Rose-red laying on her couch covered in blankets watching Netflix and eating chips
• There is a knock at the door
• She sighs but gets up to answer it
• She opens the door and shuts it real fast
• There is a bear at her door
• She hesitantly opens the door again and sees the bear shivering
• She invites him in and gives him a blanket
• He takes over what she is watching on Netflix and starts eating her chips
• She is irritated but he thanks her and she is too nice to say anything
• He overstays his welcome
• Brags about his wealth and treasure he has at home
• Loitering on her couch and eating all her food
• When spring comes he finally decides to leave to her relief
• He explains that dwarves hibernate during the winter so they leave his treasure alone but when it starts getting warm they try to steal his treasure
• A few days latter Rose-red went for a bike ride and saw a dwarf had gotten his long beard stuck in chain links of a swing
• She got off her bike took out her knife and cut his beard free
• He cursed her for cutting off his beard and took off with a bag full of stolen goods
• In the next three days Rose-red saw the dwarf three more times
• He was always in peril because of his beard and Rose-red had to cut it each time
• The dwarf was always angry and ungrateful of Rose-red’s help
• The last time she encountered the dwarf he was being attacked by the bear
• The dwarf got away and seeing her hid behind her
• He kept pushing Rose-red toward the bear, insulting him and telling him to take her instead at the same time
• The bear was so enraged that he did not recognize Rose-red at first
• She got tired of the dwarf trying to get the bear to attack her so she shoved him hard out of her way
• The dwarf hit his head on a rock and lay dead
• Rose-red is first horrified at accidentally killing the dwarf and becomes startled when the bear starts to glow
• The bear turns into a handsome man
• The bear explains he is actually a prince who was cursed by the dwarf for not willingly giving him his gold
• The bear thanks Rose-red for ending his curse by killing the dwarf and as a reward says she can be his wife.
• She looks at the bear in disgust and kicks him in the shin
• She says something like that isn’t a reward. If he wanted to reward her, send the money he would have used on a wedding to the dwarfs family for he didn’t deserve to die even he stayed as a bear for the next hundred years
• She heads back home by herself
• (Last two bullets need revision)

I made a timeline for my project on Google Calendar (link to calendar). I am not sure how accurate this will be. Since my projects depends on other people to act in it, I will have to rearrange the calendar according to their schedules. I also started a storyboard for my film for Wednesday.

Why I Did It

I created a timeline to start thinking about the logistics of my project. I know at least the filming part of my timeline will have to be flexible, so I created a cushion at the end of my timeline. I started the storyboard to start getting an idea for where I will shoot the film and who I will go about writing the script.
