I decided not to incorporate videos into my pages because I think that will just over complicate things to an unnecessary degree.  My main risk in this project is the sheer amount of work surrounding it so I need to stay realistic, keep my head above water, and produce a final product that focuses on quality not quantity.

Today I finished customizing each of the 8 Princesses Photo Gallery section.  They each have 6 photos with descriptions below.  The photos depict their hobbies, life events, or just iconic moments from their respective films.  It’s taking me sort of a long time because, obviously I want to depict all aspects of their characters in the gallery, but also because it’s a lot of formatting.  However, it’s coming along nicely and I think each page’s customization is making the project really come together.

Next I plan to work on answering each of the questions for each Princess so that may take awhile too, but it’s worth it!  I think the addiction is real….

Allie and Christa’s projects are both really cool and unique!  We talked about how Allie can getter incorporate her Tweets into her Daisy Pinterest page, and how Christa is planning on incorporating her 7 dwarfs photos.  They’re both coming along great and I’m excited to see how they turn out!

For my out of class work today I really focused on gathering a lot of images for the site.  Each of the eight Princesses has a photo gallery on their respective site so when you multiple 6 pictures by 8 Princesses that’s a lot of image searching and image siting.  I also finalized the “base” page that the rest will be mimicked off of – Ariel’s page.  My next step will be to actually duplicate Ariel’s page to each other Princesses’ and then incorporate their respective question answers.  It’s shaping up nicely and I’m happy with the progress I’ve made and place I’m at.

Documentation Plan

Because of the medium I decided to use for my project, I have a LOT of things to site.  One of my biggest things with siting is I need to keep things organized.  It’s not enough to just say “Ariel Picture,” I like to know exactly which one and give credit where credit is due.  For this reason, I decided to use the GoogleDoc citation version that was presented to us in class.  I think it is a good way of keeping everything organized and concise.  I also like this option because, since I am doing a Weebly website, I do not want to clutter the website body with citations everywhere.  I plan to make a separate page under “About” titled “Cited Works” and have a downloadable copy of the Excel sheet there available for readers.  I completely understand how important it is to cite but I just don’t want it taking away from the overall quality of my project.

I’m incredibly excited for this project and am finding it really difficult to concentrate on other classes because I just want to work with the Princesses all day. Yes, I’m still secretly 5 years old.

4/22 – Have my site completely 80%, everything but the minor details (checking spelling etc) so that the person who peer reviews me understands my project in its entirety

4/29 – Have my site complete and ready to present. I don’t know what day I will be presenting but I’d like to be prepared for any day, especially since final projects are due in many classes those two weeks.

WHAT I DID and WHY I DID IT

Today I focused on finishing up the structure of my weekly website.  I want to make the pages for all of the princesses clear, concise, and the same structure.  I focused on deciding how in depth I wanted to go with information and what I wanted the overall focus of the site to be.  I worked on the sort of “mission statement” of the competition as well as has they would be chosen.

For my project I have chosen to create a Weebly website.  This website will be a competition for “Who is the Fairest of Them All?” – a twist off of the classic Snow White story.  The premise is that “it’s 2015 and time to see who the new fairest in the land is.”  It will be sponsored by Magic Mirror Industries and sort of a spoof but at the same time giving real information about the princesses.  8 princesses will be competing and the website will have a page for each of them that shows their running platform, their interests, history, and funny spoofs on their classic tales. For instance, Cinderella will be a “started from the bottom now we’re here” type of platform.

I do not have an sources to present yet because a lot of the information I’m using is common knowledge and doesn’t need to be sited.  However, I’ve decided to use Professor Gardner’s citation GoogleDoc to keep track  of all of my clips and images.
