Created twitter accounts for all of my people as well as finished listening to the presentations and making liveblogs

Why I did it:

I gave up on any other option and now I am going to tweet all of these tweets and then use x-ray googles to fix it up to look like the correct time frame.

Revised Plan for Project http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/22/revised-plan-for-project/ Wed, 22 Apr 2015 16:03:59 +0000 http://dorick.wordpress.com/?p=215 ]]> Strengths:

The idea of live tweeting, the varying POV’s of the different people for the keynote

Problematic Design Choices & Fixes:

Live tweeting for 5 people is tough to do at once and there is no twitter handler that allows you to customize the time of tweets for 250+ tweets. The fix for this will be to use a different avenue like a faux chat client or something.

Out Of Place Rhetorical Choices & How to Attend to Audience/Purpose/Context/Genre:

The choice that was somewhat out of place is the fact that no super nerdy person would be using twitter and same goes for someone who is a super high official. Instead, id like to use something that better displays the group. As mentioned above, maybe a chat from ‘people from high school’ that have this dynamic.

Multimodal Elements that Can Be Added:

Visual (with photos) and linguistic (with good word choice)

Most Important Changes:

An avenue where I can put all the live tweets together and make it actually seem like twitter.

What Can/Can’t Be Easily Revised Before Due Date:

Everything can be revised and fixed before due date,

Another Work Day http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/20/another-work-day/ Mon, 20 Apr 2015 15:52:38 +0000 http://dorick.wordpress.com/?p=213 ]]> What I did:

Did another viewing of the keynote with a livestream based on the perspective of an apple fanboy. I also have decided to use XRAY goggles to work with my twitter accounts.

Why I did it:

I chose another perspective simply because that was the next item in my list to liveblog. I decided to work with xray goggles because I need to be able to change the time on custom tweets. In using xray goggles i will be able to make several changes to promote this.

Work Day Friday http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/18/work-day-friday/ Sat, 18 Apr 2015 05:41:00 +0000 http://dorick.wordpress.com/?p=211 ]]> Today we worked online as opposed to in class. I ended up doing it on Saturday instead of Friday because I ran out of time unfortunately.

What I did:

Watched the keynote from the perspective of the vp and wrote down in plain text the things that were worthy of tweeting. I also decided to have a full liveblog stream of the keynote from 5 diffrent perspectives:

1-VP
2-apple fanboy
3-apple hater
4-average joe
5-supernerd

Why I did it:

I watched the keynote in the vp perspective to write down what I am going to tweet as time progresses. I chose to add more people to give it more a ‘twitter feed’ type feel to it. This was also done to provide the viewer of this feed access to all different perspectives of the keynote.

Work Day 4/15 http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/15/work-day-415/ Wed, 15 Apr 2015 16:02:08 +0000 http://dorick.wordpress.com/?p=208 ]]> What I did:

Before I could create my storyboard entirely I needed to watch the entire keynote of the announcement of the item. So today I watched the first half of the keynote. Tomorrow I will watch the second half, and the following day I will re-watch it and fill out the storyboard.

Why I did it:

I needed to watch the entire keynote before doing any writing because without that it would be more difficult to storyboard my timeline because I would have no clue what is going on.

Schedule & Work http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/13/schedule-work/ Mon, 13 Apr 2015 17:12:43 +0000 http://dorick.wordpress.com/?p=206 ]]> Plans for the coming weeks for project 4:

  • 4/14 & 4/15: Write mock-up storyboard for the project. Include the necessary timeline of what I am writing about.
  • 4/16: Become familiar with how Twitter works and how to livetweet an event.
  • 4/17: Watch Apple event for the first time.
  • 4/19 & 4/20: Actually livetweet the event with photos and words. Presentation sign ups in class that day)
  • 4/22: Get peer feedback on project to date
  • 4/23 – 4/29: Make an necessary changes and prepare for in-class Presentations.

What I did today:

Today I analyzed liveblogs of events. I viewed liveblogs from events very recently (Apple’s release of the new Macbook and Watch less than a month ago) to events when they first started liveblogging (Apple’s release of the iPhone).

Why I did it:

I decided to view past liveblogs in order to to really see what a liveblog entailed. Ive always followed liveblogs, but never analyzed them for anything more than the information I wanted.

Preparing for Project 4 http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/09/preparing-for-project-4/ Fri, 10 Apr 2015 00:17:22 +0000 http://dorick.wordpress.com/?p=201 ]]> The hardest part so far about project 4 is actually picking a project.

I have decided to Remix the story of the keynote of the release of Mac OS X. This was Apple’s first step into the modern age of computing. If you look at images of mac os 9.2.2 and the next release of their operating system, 10.1, you will notice a MOUNTAIN of enhancements and changes. Now Mac OS X was first released in 2000, which was around the time Windows XP was being released. This was a time before social media, a time before Twitter, Facebook, and live-blogging events. This means the only real way to hear about the updates of this information was being at the keynote, waiting for apple to release their product on the website, or view it on one of the very few tech websites. Now when an apple event is happening, there are quite literally over 1000+ people present and almost ALL of them liveblog the event.

So, for my project 4, I am going to liveblog the release of Mac OS X from the perspective of both a tech person in the crowd, and Apple’s VP at the time, Tim Cook!

Here are a few links to sources that I will use to help work on the project:

First Glimpse of Project 4 http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/03/first-glimpse-of-project-4/ Fri, 03 Apr 2015 12:22:00 +0000 http://dorick.wordpress.com/?p=202 ]]> Today I reviewed the project 4 description and some of the examples. Here are the responses to the assignment questions:

  1. What makes a good remix is the overall rethought of a well-known story. The usage of old stories modernized or simplified seems to be ideal.
  2. The example that I enjoyed the best is the remix of Beauty and the Beast. The creator made a splendid view of making the view of all of this 3rd person as just a friend watching it all go down on social media. For example, Belle made a status titles “Watching cat videos all day with Beast. What is life?” This shows that the creator actively modernized the film to the 2008+ years. Why? Because nobody in the 1990’s would think about doing something like this.
  3. Project Ideas:
    1. Scene from Great Expectations
    2. Scene from Holes
    3. Different perspective from a team winning the Stanley Cup
    4. Rich person & poor person from Great Depression

Presentation Day #3 http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/03/30/presentation-day-3-2/ Mon, 30 Mar 2015 15:52:47 +0000 http://dorick.wordpress.com/?p=197 ]]> The application that I found to be the most beneficial is Vialogues. I thought it was really great in its usage. It seems easy to use, one can derive a lot of usage from it, and seems applicable to teachers. As far as utility, I as a student think its utility is pretty menial, but as a teacher the utility is virtually endless.
