Interrogate the Interface – Spring 2015 Class Blogs http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com Blogs by Students in the Spring 2015 Sections Thu, 29 Oct 2015 01:12:29 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.5.3 Presentations Day Three http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/03/30/presentations-day-three/ Mon, 30 Mar 2015 14:45:08 +0000 http://brigidpettit.wordpress.com/?p=169 ]]> I really liked the tool called “Fetchnotes.” I would really like to try new ways to take notes this summer during my summer classes, so this tool could be an option for me. I liked that you can use Evernote with the tool, because Evernote is easy to use on my phone and I could just import the notes onto my computer and try this tool with Evernote.

Presentations Day Two http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/03/27/presentations-day-two/ Fri, 27 Mar 2015 14:59:07 +0000 http://brigidpettit.wordpress.com/?p=167 ]]> I liked the WhenInTime tool because I like using timelines to learn information for my classes. The tool looks easy to use and it would be really helpful in my classes. especially because we always begin my discussion classes early in history and then move through history as the semester progresses. I think I could easily navigate the tool, and it looks like I could even share it with partners in class or group project discussions.

Online Workday http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/03/25/online-workday/ Wed, 25 Mar 2015 14:16:39 +0000 http://brigidpettit.wordpress.com/?p=165 ]]> Checklist observations:

As I read through my web essay draft and compared it to the checklist, I feel confident that I have addressed every area of analysis that related to Inklewriter. I feel that I thoroughly listed every affordance and constraint that I encountered. My navigation is clear, easy to use, and in a logical order. My web essay is not overloaded with text; there is a nice balance between text and pictures. The constraint site has no pictures because there were no pictures of constraints to be found. I think the only thing I need to work on is integrating the screenshots into the pages.

What I did:

I re-read my pages and included references to every screenshot that I had placed within the text. I also edited some of the spatial arrangements.

Why I did it:

I always seem to forget to reference the screenshots in every assignment that I complete. I forget that the reader won’t always understand my thought process, so today I edited my pages to include direct references to every screenshot to make sure the reader understands the placement of images within the text.

Presentations Day One http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/03/23/presentations-day-one-2/ Mon, 23 Mar 2015 14:52:17 +0000 http://brigidpettit.wordpress.com/?p=149 ]]> I really liked the presentation on PearlTrees! I found it interesting because it sounds like it combines Google Drive with social media accounts, like Pinterest. Honestly, I think it would be useful because you can upload documents to it, so I could pull up readings for my classes and still be scrolling through my interests, which is what I do already using separate sites. It would combine my procrastination and productivity into one site!

Peer Review http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/03/20/peer-review-19/ Fri, 20 Mar 2015 14:34:28 +0000 http://brigidpettit.wordpress.com/?p=147 ]]> What I heard in peer review:

My partner reviewed my web essay and told me I had enough text, but that I need to add more screenshots. She said I covered everything that needs to be covered, but pictures would add to the essay.

What I need to do:

-Add in the screenshots of the tutorials

-Use my web essay to make a presentation.

More Inklewriter Work http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/03/16/more-inklewriter-work/ Mon, 16 Mar 2015 14:51:40 +0000 http://brigidpettit.wordpress.com/?p=122 ]]> What I did:
Today I continued filling out the Writer/Designer Analysis questions and I explored Inklewriter a little more, mostly the About page. I learned about the creators and I edited my answers accordingly. I also edited the blog to include a rough outline of my web essay on Inklewriter.

Why I did it:
I feel so behind because I was gone all of spring break! I’m trying to get a lot done and get ahead on my schedule so that I can produce a draft in time for class review. I’m glad I thought of looking at the About page on Inklewriter, I learned a lot about the creators that will be useful in answering the Writer/Designer questions.

What I Chose for My Project http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/02/27/what-i-chose-for-my-project/ Fri, 27 Feb 2015 16:26:36 +0000 http://brianleahey.wordpress.com/?p=34 ]]> I chose to do my project on Audioboom, because it’s a music website that I’ve never even heard of before. I haven’t signed up for it or anything yet, but I’m excited to see how it functions and if it will be a website that I continue to use for music listening after the project is over.
