I still have a decent amount of work to do on my blog until I get it to where I want it to be. A lot of this is new to me so it’s helpful to have people that are more familiar with creating websites that can give advice.

What I need to do.

I still have to finish up my About page and my site information page. I’m thinking about changing my theme to one that might make it a little more simpler but I need to set up my other pages first.

During the peer review I found that my site seemed to be good to the eye. The menu place may be a little difficult to find initially, but that can’t be changed with my theme. The overall theme is eye-pleasing. I had just about everything that is required for our site except for the site information tab.

What I Need to Do

the only thing left for me to do with my site is set up a site information page. I will look over that required information and search through the internet on what to include in that page. Once that is done my site should be complete minus some consistent updates that I will make over time.

My peer review was overall positive. However, my partner and I talked about the need for more visuals throughout the page, a stronger page headline – other than my name, the need for future project tabs, and the need of a stronger site info page.

What I need to do.

I need to be concious to add more visuals to my blog posts in the future. In addition I need to come up with a clever title for my page that further enhances the theme choice, color choices, and photo choices I have already made. I added project tabs during this class so that component is already complete. So lastly, I need to work on providing more information on my site info page.

Categories, About Me, Contact Me, and Tagline http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/02/09/categories-about-me-contact-me-and-tagline/ Mon, 09 Feb 2015 23:06:18 +0000 http://caeinstein.wordpress.com/?p=23 ]]> What I Did

I first added the categories In-Class, Project 1, Project 2, Project 3, and Project 4 to my posts. I updated my first two blog posts to the Project 2 category. I added two paragraphs on the About Me page about my experience, future goals, and qualifications. I then added a link to my e-mail to the social media links at the bottom of my pages. I also created a Contact Me page with links to my Twitter, LinkedIn, and e-mail and placed it in the main menu. Finally, I changed my tagline from “Relatively Funny” to “Catherine A. Einstein.”

Why I Did It

I added the categories to allow me to better organize my posts in the future. I added content to my About Me page that I felt was relevant overall, but I am unsure if it is relevant to this class. I may have to change the About Me page later. I also added a symbol link to my e-mail at the bottom of my pages for consistency and ease of contact. I decided to make a separate Contact Me page even though I have social media links at the bottom of every page include the Contact Me page. I thought the symbol links on the bottom of a page might be hard to find for some readers. It will be easier for some to navigate to my contact links through the main menu. I changed my tagline from “Relatively Funny” to “Catherine A. Einstein” because there will probably be very little to no humor in my blogs and it will be easier for viewers to find my name.

Feb 9 http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/02/09/feb-9/ Mon, 09 Feb 2015 16:57:03 +0000 http://hvtd.wordpress.com/?p=18 ]]> What I Did

Today I went through and set up my menu, which I named “main” on my end. My menu includes pages for all the projects I will be completing this semester, as well as a “miscellaneous” page for any posts that I make unrelated to any projects. Whether or not a post is related to a project or not will be determined by the work done in class that day.

I also worked on my “about” page which gives the user limited information to a little bit about me. I made an effort to write that information in the same way I would write a normal blog post.

Why I Did It

My menu is named what it is in order to keep separation from any other menus I may create. “Main” refers to the menu that I want to be my, yes, main one used on my site.

I wrote my about page in the same manner I would any other post to give the user a sense of continuity. I want people to know that I am the same on both sides, I am not trying to be very professional on one end, yet loose on the other. By writing my page the way I did, I hope to present a sense of relaxation and semi-professionalism within my site. I want my site to be more “user-friendly” and less “professional.”

Fine Tuning My Blog http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/02/09/fine-tuning-my-blog/ Mon, 09 Feb 2015 16:53:14 +0000 http://emwalters19.wordpress.com/?p=36 ]]> ]]> Goran http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/02/08/goran/ Mon, 09 Feb 2015 02:16:51 +0000 http://gracebarryonline.wordpress.com/?p=5 ]]> What I did…

For my website I decided to choose the theme Goran.

Why I did it…

I liked this theme because it is very simple, but also has a really great design to it. I also like its capabilities for strong visuals and high customization. So far, I have only set the color scheme. I have to admit I am a little overwhelmed with the customization aspect of this site, but I look forward to diving in and really transforming it to something that is individual. For now, I am happy with the initial set up of the site, but I have a lot more work to do before it will feel like my own site. I have some experience with customization on web templates, mostly the sites Square Space and Wix, but this is my first time customizing WordPress. I look forward to learning more!

take two http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/02/08/take-two/ Sun, 08 Feb 2015 23:53:20 +0000 http://leighmxx.wordpress.com/?p=21 ]]> WHAT I DID

i went ahead and changed the background color to a calm and pretty blue then customized my comment box tagline. although i would have liked to customize my website more, i’m unable to change the fonts or other things due to my lack of membership. looking at you, @wordpress.

i did get to add a cute tagline, “an english class journey,” as well.

WHY I DID IT

honestly, blue is my favorite color. plus it gives the site a personal look. i like the comment box tagline “say something” much more than the boring “leave a comment.” again, it adds a personal touch. i chose my blog’s tagline, “an english class journey” because it gives the viewer/reader a quick, simple idea what the blog is going to be about. i’m unsure about what else to add – the free wordpress membership doesn’t really leave much up to the user’s imagination.
