Today, I continued to work on putting the Tweets and images into my Prezi.  I only have one more “day” to finish, and I also have to make my presentation.

Why I did what I did:

I continued to work on my Prezi, so that I can complete my project in time for my presentation and the due date.

I finished making my Tweets for both Hansel and Gretel. I found some images to use as transitions. I started making my Prezi.

Why I did what I did:

I finished the tweets so that I could continue to stay on track for my timeline.  I started my Prezi presentation today so that I had enough time to really figure out how to use Prezi, since I have only played around with it once or twice. I am on track for finishing on Monday/Wednesday of next week.

My Revision Plan

My strength for this draft thus far is my story line.  My peers thought that the content of my tweets and flow of the story made sense.  When I told them about the editing of the images and putting all of my information into a prezi, they also liked those ideas. One of the design choices that was problematic was the fact that I didn’t plan on having words to go along in the presentation.  My peers think it would be a good idea to have a overview story line within the presentation to help the reader understand exactly what is happening and to make the story flow better.  Since I haven’t started making the actual presentation yet, I think that this revision plan will be definitely attainable.

I finished making the fake Tweets for both characters through Day 6 of their 7 day journey.  I started on Gretel’s Tweets for Day 7 and plan on finishing both of they Twitter feeds by the end of the night tonight.

Why I did what I did:

I continued to make the Tweets so that I could stay on schedule to finish my project on time.  I am the majority of the way done with making all of the elements before I put them together for the final product and the presentation, which I will work on later this week.

I made the Tweets for both Hansel and Gretel for days two and three of their adventure.

Why I did what I did:

I made these tweets to progress and meet my deadline of finishing these by the end of the day Monday (4/20).  I am almost halfway through with my tweet making.

Documentation Plan:

My plan for documenting my sources is to create like a “Works Cited” page at the end of my presentation board.  So the very last “slide” that prezi will go to will list of my citations.

On Monday, I decided to do the story in a matter of 7 days/nights.  Today, I made all of the Tweets and Text Message (iPhone) conversations between Hansel and Gretel for Project 4.  I also found photos to use as their profile pictures on their Twitter accounts

Why I did what I did:

I made the story to be 7 days, so that I could possibly title it “A Week in the Woods: The Real Story of Hansel & Gretel.”  I also made the Tweets/Messages so that I could start progressing toward finishing all of the social media interaction within the next week.  On Friday, I plan on continuing this creation process.

Story Outline Notes: (These are in the Notes app on my Mac, but it was too long to take a screenshot.) The indentation got messed up as well.

Day 1 Twitter Updates:

Gretel:
Complaining about step-mom wanting to leave them in the woods
Hansel:
Brainstorming how to get them out of the situation
Collecting pebbles (something GPS related)
Day 2:
Hansel:
Talk about step mom tricking them
Throwing pebbles (maybe use GPS tracking points)
NIGHT of Day 2:
Using trackers to find their way back
Gretel:
Talk about surprising the step mom
Day 3:
Night
Hansel:
Step mom took keys to car so he can’t get more trackers
Day 4:
Hansel:
Used trackers he had
Used goldfish that step mom had given for the rest
NIGHT of Day 4:
Gretel:
Birds had eaten all of their gold fish and out of range of tracker signal
Day 5:
Find house of candy
Gretel:
Nice old woman
Hansel:
Naive Gretel
Lurking suspicion
Day 6:
Gretel:
Complain about cooking
Come to realization of what is going on
Going to feed Hansel to her dogs and herself
Day 7:
Gretel:
Plays dumb about going in the electric brick oven to light the pilot light
Puts old woman into the oven
Get Hansel out of basement
Hansel:
Walk a little farther and then got into range of one of the trackers (maybe change to batteries)
Got home
Dad had already divorced step mom
Use Prezi
Twitter
Need some edited images
Need some sort of transition piece on Prezi between the days and nights to help the story flow

I came up with my timeline of events for my Remix story.  I compiled a rough outline of what both Hansel and Gretel are going to say in their Twitter updates.  I also decided that I am going to use Prezi, Twitter, and edited images for this project.

Why I did what I did:

I came up with the story line so that I can start creating the Twitter status updates on Wednesday.  I came up with the outline of what each character was going to say so that it was easier for me to start thinking about creative status updates.  I finalized what tools I’ll be using so that I can get started on creating the parts of the story.

Timeline for Project:

Storyboard for 4/15 – DONE

Twitter updates finished by 4/20

Presentation Sign-ups on 4/20

Peer Feedback on 4/22

Images edited by 4/24

Compile Story into Prezi by 4/27

Presentation made by 4/27

Presentations from 4/29-5/6

I noticed that some of the better remixes used more than just 3 modes of communication, they tried to include all 5.  I also thought the energy and modern integration helped bring about an interesting twist on the topics.  I liked the humor that was added in ways that we tend to view humor.

What makes a good digital story

I really liked Rapunzel, because of the way she integrated a video and twitter.  I also think that the Alexander one did a good job of incorporating multiple modes of technology. Overall, the ones that used some form of social media to integrate helped make the story digital.

Stories I am considering

I think I want to focus on Scar’s ulterior motive from the Lion King.

I’ll probably do:

-An infographic

-pinboard

-twitter feed

Or some combination.
