Remixing Gatsby http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/27/remixing-gatsby/ Mon, 27 Apr 2015 18:49:37 +0000 http://agrondine.wordpress.com/?p=227 ]]> What I Did

Today, I worked on finding more pins so that each board had 15+ pins. I also watched the movie to screen shot some images to add to my boards. I also created a board that held all of the tweets Daisy would write.

Why I Did It

I wanted each board to have 15+ pins because they needed to encompass Daisy and things that she would pin. Each category reflects her personality and how she would plan parties, design her house, think about Gatsby, etc. I watched the movie because there were some images I was unable to find on my own and they would provide the perfect example of what each board needed to complete it. I created the Tweets board because I thought it would be the best way to keep everything together so that it would be easy since it’s all in one place.

SPOT reviews and rough cuts http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/27/spot-reviews-and-rough-cuts/ Mon, 27 Apr 2015 15:54:56 +0000 http://jackostriker.wordpress.com/?p=103 ]]> What I did:

Today we discussed the end of the class and everything that we need to do before then. Afterwards I spent most of class completing the SPOT review and scheduling out everything I still need to do.

in regards to my Remix a Story project, I am still in the process of editing the film. I realized this last weekend that I accidentally didn’t film one of the transitional scenes between shots, so I will have to figure out a work-around for it. My main concern while editing this project is that its purpose is very clear. Though it seemed obvious on paper, I want to make sure that same effect is achieved in the film.

Why I did it:

As things start to wrap up, there are more and more loose ends that must be made neat. Because of this, keeping everything straight is pretty important; I don’t want to sabotage my grade. That said, what I have left isn’t too daunting, I just need to stay focused.

More Work on Project 4 http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/27/more-work-on-project-4-3/ Mon, 27 Apr 2015 15:06:24 +0000 http://mhutzel.wordpress.com/?p=322 Continue reading ]]> What I Did/Why I Did It

So I planned on working in InDesign but there were formatting issues so I attempted to save the file in another format so I could work on my pages but this was unsuccessful. Since I was planning on editing my pages there wasn’t much for me to do so I had to work on the smaller things. I designed a logo for Drosselmeyer’s Toys to use on the order form/mailer as well as on other pages. This took the entire class period because I had to group the text with the image and I’m not tech-savvy at all.

Progress http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/24/progress-2/ Fri, 24 Apr 2015 16:01:39 +0000 http://agrondine.wordpress.com/?p=225 ]]> What I Did

Today, I worked on pinning more things to my boards so they had some good depth. I also worked on searching through the pins to find specific literary references. Since last class, I have created 10 tweets that link to Daisy’s Pinterest page.

Why I Did It

I searched for more pins because my boards need to have at least 20 pins per board in order for them to hold relevance (to my standard). If Daisy is going to pin about something, there has to be a reason people would follow her. I also made the tweets because it gives a second level of Daisy and allows her audience to connect with her in another medium.

P4 Work Day http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/24/p4-work-day/ Fri, 24 Apr 2015 15:03:32 +0000 http://mhutzel.wordpress.com/?p=320 Continue reading ]]> What I Did/Why I Did It

I finished creating the content for the customer testimonials. I will need to transfer this to InDesign to design the page further. I also collected photos for my assets and began creating my order form. These things take longer than expected which is why I am making slow progress on this project.

Revision Plan http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/22/revision-plan-14/ Wed, 22 Apr 2015 15:58:37 +0000 http://jackostriker.wordpress.com/?p=99 ]]> For today’s class, I brought in a rough cut of my film. Because I only finished filming yesterday, I’ve only got the first major scene in order. My reviewers suggested that my transitions needed strengthening. While I agree, they provided me with some pretty insightful feedback as to how I may improve it. One suggestion was to incorporate “text slides” of sorts to indicate scene changes and provide more information, almost like the text presented in silent movies. I will have to figure out how to incorporate this without making the transitions jarring, though. Smoothness is very important in keeping one’s audience engaged.

I told my reviewers that I was going to add some sound effects and other background noises to add to the realism of the shots. They were onboard with this idea, but actually gave me some good reasoning as to why some of my shots should stay quiet. Through doing this, part of the awkwardness I’m trying to capture will really be apparent. As more of the movie falls into place, I will get a much better idea of what needs to happen holistically.

Revision Plan http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/22/revision-plan-12/ Wed, 22 Apr 2015 15:38:18 +0000 http://agrondine.wordpress.com/?p=222 ]]> In our group revision session, I asked Krista and Katharina for some help on the method to cite my sources. Since I’ll be tweeting things and adding quotes from the book/movie, I wanted to be sure to give credit where needed. However, Katharina suggested I make an excel sheet and add it as an attachment to my project since citing in the tweets would interfere with the appearance and purpose of the the project.

They really liked the idea and direction I was taking my project and I just need to continue adding pins and creating the tweets.

The link to my rough cut is here.

Revision Plan http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/22/revision-plan-9/ Wed, 22 Apr 2015 14:47:51 +0000 http://mhutzel.wordpress.com/?p=318 Continue reading ]]> I got great feedback and ideas about my project. After speaking with my reviewers, I know that I also want to create an owner testimonial as well as include an order form for purchasing toys. I think these are great ways to include more linguistic and visual aspects to my project.

In order to finish my project, I need to complete these pages and convert them to PDFs. I then need to upload them to my flip book for “publishing.”

Also, I need to determine the way I will present my project. I think it will be enough to open the flip book online and flip through the pages giving a brief description of each and my reasoning behind creating the individual aspects.

Sources & Rough Cuts http://spring15blogs.tracigardner.com/2015/04/20/sources-rough-cuts/ Mon, 20 Apr 2015 15:53:04 +0000 http://agrondine.wordpress.com/?p=220 ]]> What I Did

To cite my sources, I will use the links in the Pins and cite my tweets via quotes or link them to pins. Since my project focuses on social media, I can use the links to cite my sources and make my project multimodal. I’m currently looking at the new site, Popcorn Time to watch The Great Gatsby movie for my project and pull any material or quotes I might need. I went over the checklist for the basic materials I need for my rough cut.

Why I Did It

I decided on this method because it’s the easiest way to do so without appearing awkward or obvious. Linking sources will make it cleaner and it will allow viewers to go directly to the source. Popcorn Time makes you download the app in order to use it so I’m currently debating whether or not I want to download it to my computer. I can watch the older version on Netflix, but I wanted to use the newer version for my project. My project currently meets the requirements for a rough cut, minus the fake tweets, which will be completed by Wednesday’s class.
