Revision Plan

For today’s class, I brought in a rough cut of my film. Because I only finished filming yesterday, I’ve only got the first major scene in order. My reviewers suggested that my transitions needed strengthening. While I agree, they provided me with some pretty insightful feedback as to how I may improve it. One suggestion was to incorporate “text slides” of sorts to indicate scene changes and provide more information, almost like the text presented in silent movies. I will have to figure out how to incorporate this without making the transitions jarring, though. Smoothness is very important in keeping one’s audience engaged.

I told my reviewers that I was going to add some sound effects and other background noises to add to the realism of the shots. They were onboard with this idea, but actually gave me some good reasoning as to why some of my shots should stay quiet. Through doing this, part of the awkwardness I’m trying to capture will really be apparent. As more of the movie falls into place, I will get a much better idea of what needs to happen holistically.

Still from a scene of the rough-cut.
