Today, I created this blog. I chose a name, a tagline, and a theme as I begin to familiarize myself with WordPress. I used to use WordPress way back in middle school, but it has changed a ton since I last logged on.

1) What I Did

After logging into the WordPress account I created a week ago for another class this semester, I created a separate blog for this class. I chose a name (Doug Bowman Blogs), a tagline (You win some, you lose some, some get rained out), and a theme (Plane).

2) Why I Did It

– The Name: I was looking for something simple and explanatory. “Doug Bowman Blogs” met my criteria because it explains who is authoring and what I am doing.

-The tagline: My tagline is “You win some, you lose some, some get rained out.” I used it to describe my online identity, so I figured I would use it here as well. I don’t take myself too seriously online, but I like to balance between useless entertaining stuff and thought provoking content. That phrase helps remind me to maintain that balance.

-Theme: I chose the Plane theme because I really liked the way the header set up the page. I like how the all caps looks for the title, as well as the color scheme separating the menu bar, the header, and the content of the site. It looks like it will make terrific use of white space while also maintaining a little uniqueness with the header and menu bar color scheme.
