What I Did
Today, I went through my widgets and decided which ones would be best to add to my site. I ended up putting in a calendar of my website’s activity, a recent posts link, a contact info location, and my Twitter feed that includes that last three tweets from my Twitter page.
Why I Did It
I made these decisions based on what I want my site to achieve. Its always, in my opinion as well as in our recent learning, a good idea to have a contact info place on your website. You never know when somebody might really enjoy something you’ve done and want to get in contact with you. I added a calendar to my list of activated widgets in order to add a more easily way for viewers to go back and find older posts. If somebody has a timeframe in mind of when the post might have been published, then clicking through a calendar is an easier way to find something than scrolling up and down an entire site. In relation, a recent posts link works with that as well. Maybe a post was in the past two weeks, but no longer shows up on my homepage, it would be pretty high up in a recent posts link and thus easy to find. I then added a widget to my Twitter page because Twitter is where I excel online and I am very proud of the perception I’ve created of myself through that. I like to be able to promote myself anywhere I can.
