What I did:
I made a couple of changes, first within the Eighties theme I changed my background picture to something that was more relevant to me from the picture of Times Square. The picture I chose didn’t work with theme so I went ahead and changed that. First I tried Intergalactic with the picture I submitted for my online identity. Then I changed my theme to Twenty Eleven and a picture of Thompson Field at game time.
Why I did it:
What I liked about the Eighties theme was how simple it would be for users to get to the most recent post without having to click around. The problem was the blog header and picture were overwhelmingly large, that they took away from the blog itself. I changed away from Intergalactic because there was too much dark space, and getting to a blog post would require clicking on a link.
I’ve settled on the Twenty Eleven theme for the time being because of its simplistic look, it doesn’t fade the background picture, and all of the posts are on the homepage. I choose the picture of Thompson Field because as a Hokie, being on the women’s soccer team is what I most identify with.
