First post!

This is the post for the February 9, 2015 class meeting.

What I did

Due to personal reasons, I’m getting a late start on figuring out this whole WordPress thing. Today in class, I created my account and blog and started flipping through different options for the appearance of my site. I also put in some placeholders for future pages and figured out my account settings. I’ll probably do some more exploration tonight once I get home from work in order to catch myself up!

Why I did it

I needed to familiarize myself with the tools and designs that WordPress has to offer. I don’t like going into anything uninformed, so I like to surf around until I feel like I have a good grasp of how to do things – that way, I’ll be able to feel comfortable actually figuring out what I want to do.

Other thoughts

I don’t want to create something cheesy. I don’t want to overthink who I am and create something that overly idealizes or compartmentalizes aspects of my identity. I know this is a class project, but honestly this assignment and the one previous have made me think about how I represent myself in all things, not just online. I wish I could just make snap decisions and justify them with “oh, it’s just for a class, it doesn’t really mean anything,” but something in me just wants to make this meaningful. I don’t know. Just what I’ve been thinking.
