What I Did–Yesterday:
I went back to touch up my blog yesterday and ended up doing a lot, so I thought I should explain what I added in a blog post. I was finally able to find a few pictures I would feel comfortable creating a gallery with, so I added those. Then, I added a “Fun Facts” subcategory to my About tab on the menu, because I felt it was necessary to explain some of the pictures. Lastly, I edited my Colophon to keep up to date with the pictures I had added.
Why I Did It–Yesterday:
I have been wanting to create a gallery to add more personality and substance to the site, but was unable to find any pictures that I liked on my computer in class Wednesday, so yesterday I went through my phone to find some to email to myself. I was successful in finding a few couple pictures I liked, all of which were of my cats and the bulletin boards I have made for my job at the Imaginarium.
After creating my gallery, I realized the pictures would work better with a bit of an explanation. I added a “Fun Facts” page to explain my job at the Imaginarium, and my love of my two cats that were featured. I set my Fun Facts page before my Photos page in the About subcategories, in hopes that readers would took at the facts before seeing the pictures, so that they would have a better understanding of what they were looking at–however, I also added short captions under the photos for a little explanation. I then updated my Colophon with the basic image information as well.
What I Did (or am trying to do)–Today:
As I began my reflection in todays class, thinking my blog was complete, I decided I wanted to add more pictures. I wanted to add two or three of me and my best friends. As mentioned in my online identity statement, I hate pictures of me and try to avoid posting them, but I decided my wordpress should include these images for 3 reasons:
1. I know if I were to view a personal blog, I would want to be able to see a face to match to personal content I was reading–so I thought it would be the best to do the same in my own blog
2. Adding pictures of myself and my friends makes the blog a lot more personal, and to me, meaningful
3. But to be completely honest, the main reason I added these pictures was to use gestural modes of communication in my blog in order to be able to list it in my reflection, and hopefully get those exemplary work points!
So after deciding to suck it up and and some pics of myself, and emailing myself some pictures from my phone to add…….my computer wouldn’t let me download them….apparently there isn’t enough room on my computer (which really confuses and frustrates me because this is a pretty new laptop), so now I will have to try to go through WordPress on my phone to add them after class.
Either way, I will find a way to be successful with this, so this is my blogpost explaining what I will be doing and why. I will also update my Colophon with information on the pictures as well.
(Oh, and I also went through and edited my “What I Did & Why I Did it” blogposts to all be titled the shorter version, “What I Did & Why,” since some had the longer titles, because I wanted there to be more consistency in my posts.)
