Two months ago, my sister and I wanted to go ice skating. I looked up the information for a skating rink on my computer and texted my sister. I meant to tell her “It is $10 for adults and $7 to rent skates.” Little did I realize that autocorrect changed the word “skate” to “slave.” So she read the text “It is $10 for adults and $7 to rent slaves.” Clearly, that was not what I wanted to say! So one obvious constraint of autocorrect is it chooses the wrong word. In terms of affordance, autocorrect made it quicker and easier to send the message.
