2/18 Jazzing up “About me”

What I did…

I decided to add a few more pages to this site that will give the reader a better insight to who I am. I decided to include 3 things that I identify with, or that are significant things in my life.

Why I did it…

First, I decided to highlight some of my nonprofit work and affiliation with the Blacksburg Museum & Cultural Foundation. I became involved with the foundation about a year ago and it has been a wonderful experience for me to get to know the local community as well as gain some experience in nonprofit management.

Second, I am going to include some information on the College of Architecture & Urban Studies, and the School of Visual Arts (SOVA.) As a student ambassador for these two programs, it is my job to recruit students and promote the programs. I also feel as though SOVA at Virginia Tech is my home. I am currently employed by SOVA, have won scholarship money through SOVA, had some amazing faculty mentors, and made some great friends here.

Third, I am going to include some of my freelance graphic design projects. Originally when I came to Virginia Tech I  thought about pursuing a double major in Graphic Design. Although I went with another path, it is still a hobby of mine and a way to make a little extra money.

But–these additions lead me to another decision. Originally, the “About” section of my site was a small introduction to the site itself. It was not an “About me” section. So, I think I might have an “About the Site” and a separate “About me.” I’m still pondering this one over, though.
