Affordances and Constraints of Autocorrect

I recently made the bold switch from iPhone to an Android powered cell phone. However, it was not a voluntary decision. I took a tumble one late Saturday night over the recent Christmas break and it contributed to the demise of my iPhone. Rather than purchasing a new phone, I activated my brother’s old Android phone. After about a week of texting and not being fully aware of my spellings or, I realized that the phone had many misspelled words saved into it. Whenever I typed the word “you”, it instead sent “Ypu”. That one happened a lot. The few times that I wanted to say “Be there in a sec”, it changed it to me saying “Be there in a sex”, making me sound like Borat. I’m not gonna lie I still have not gone through and changed any of those saved words but I probably should before I accidentally text my mother telling her that I will “Be home in a sex”.
